Festival Program 2022 – 13 / 17 July
The Tavolara Film Festival was established in Porto San Paolo in 1990, an ingenious idea of the brothers Marco and Augusto Navone, who christened it “A night in Italy”. It is currently directed by Piera Detassis (in collaboration with Viviana Gandini, Claudia Panzica and Emanuele Degortes).

Tavolara: movies on the full-moon weekend in July

The festival takes place in July and includes several cultural events organized with the participation of celebrities and personalities from the world of art and culture. The Tavolara Film Festival events involve the entire community of Porto San Paolo and takes place in different fascinating areas of the village culminating on the island of Tavolara with the Saturday evening event, on the full moon weekend. An essential scenic element to make the stage on the island of Tavolara magical, providing a backdrop for a festival that is both pop and niche.

Pop and niche film festival

Pop because of the large number of spectators and the deliberate integration of audience and artists. Niche because the quality of the films, which since the first edition has made this Festival the most important event in its sector in Sardinia. It has been a long journey thanks to the stubbornness of the founders and the professionalism of the organisers. The best Italian auteur cinema has always guaranteed its enthusiastic presence. Actors, directors and professionals who embody the excellence of our cinema give life to this event, which takes place between Porto San Paolo and the island of Tavolara.
Tavolara Film Festival supports the dissemination of film culture among audiences, especially young people. It develops film education projects for kids during the event.
A family atmosphere has always linked Italian audiences to the artists and technicians of great Italian cinema.

Sardinian cinema

Sardinian directors are constantly present during the Festival. Over the last twenty years Sardinian movies have expressed a cinema with a strong character, terrific landscapes and creative power. Among others, “Arcipelaghi” by Giovanni Columbu and “Pesi leggeri” by Enrico Pau, “Bellas Mariposas” Salvatore Mereu.
